Director of the Academy of Sciences RAS Academician R. Nigmatulin addressed the Council of Federation

Within the framework of the "Expert Time" at the meeting of the Federation Council on October 28, 2015, Robert Nigmatulin, director of the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, made a speech. His speech was devoted to ensuring environmental security for the sustainable development of mankind. The scientist told the senators about the stages of the development of Russian oceanology, about its tasks and significance for the national economic complex of the country.

In the speech of Robert Nigmatulin, the problems of logistics of the Russian research fleet were touched upon in the light of the need for further study of the World Ocean.

According to the expert, science often becomes an instrument of geopolitics. At the same time, authoritative scientists from different fields of science should be able to represent scientific decisions independent of officials.

Robert Nigmatulin noted that the "physical" laws for dynamic systems, such as socio-economic systems, work in the economy and in society. "If the dynamic system is not balanced, then it stops in its development," the scientist stated.
